Police Update on Discovery of Human Remains in Thamesmead

Police have issued an update following the discovery of suspected human remains in a wooded area near Sewell Road, Thamesmead, on November 6.

An investigation was launched after the remains were found, prompting officers to establish multiple cordons around the area while forensic teams examined the site.

Today (November 9), a Metropolitan Police spokesperson confirmed there is no evidence to suggest that the death is suspicious. The cordons have since been lifted, though police enquiries remain ongoing to establish further details about the case.

The full statement from the Metropolitan Police reads: “Police were called at 12.36pm on Wednesday, 6 November, to reports of suspected human remains found in a wooded area near to Sewell Road, Thamesmead. Cordons were in place while police responded. These have now been lifted. Enquiries are ongoing. At this stage, there is no evidence to suggest the death is suspicious.”

The investigation continues as authorities work to determine the circumstances surrounding the discovery.
