Two individuals have been jailed for their roles in a car robbery in Dover, which involved threats and a high-speed getaway. Jade Cosier, 28, and Erik Horvath, 24, were sentenced to a combined total of over five years for robbing a man of his car on April 16, 2024, in the Tower Hamlets area of Dover.

Cosier, who was acquainted with the victim, gained entry to his home and asked to borrow money. After they went together to a cashpoint, they returned to find Horvath and two 17-year-old boys waiting inside, believed to have entered through an unlocked door left by Cosier. The group demanded the victim’s car keys and bank card before fleeing in his vehicle.
Police were quickly alerted, and the stolen car was soon spotted speeding on the M2. Officers managed to box in and stop the vehicle, arresting Cosier, Horvath, and the two teenagers.
Cosier, of Sunshine Corner Avenue in Aylesham, pleaded guilty to robbery and dangerous driving and was sentenced to two years and four months at Canterbury Crown Court on November 7. Horvath, formerly of King Street, Dover, admitted to robbery and received a three-year, four-month sentence. One of the teenage boys involved was previously given a Youth Rehabilitation Order, and the other awaits sentencing.
Detective Constable Charlotte Tracey, the investigating officer, stated, “These four people took advantage of a man who was known to Cosier and had even offered to help her earlier that day. They put him in fear of violence, and Cosier then endangered road users with the manner and speed of her driving. I am pleased they were quickly arrested and charged, and these two offenders have now been jailed, meaning they are no longer a danger to the people of Dover.”
