Man Charged with Attempted Murder Following Brixton Bus Disturbance

 

A man has been charged with attempted murder after a violent incident on a Brixton bus left another man critically injured.

Nathan Grant, 39, of Lambeth Walk, Brixton, was charged on Friday, 22 November, with attempted murder and theft. He appeared in custody at Croydon Crown Court the following day, Saturday, 23 November, and was remanded in custody. He is scheduled to appear at the Old Bailey on Friday, 20 December.

The charges stem from a disturbance involving two men on a route 59 bus on Brixton Road, SW9, at approximately 10:20 am on Thursday, 21 November. The altercation left a 40-year-old man with serious injuries. Emergency services transported him to the hospital, where he remains in critical condition. His family has been informed.

Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime Command is leading the investigation. While no weapons are believed to have been used in the attack, officers are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A 39-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder shortly after the incident and taken into custody. He has since been formally charged.

Authorities are appealing for information from the public to aid their investigation. Anyone with relevant details, including footage from CCTV, mobile phones, doorbells, or dashcams, is urged to contact the police by calling 101 or messaging @MetCC on X, quoting reference 2089/21Nov.
