A significant fire broke out at a scaffold yard and vehicle repair unit on Norwood High Street late last night, prompting a large-scale response from the London Fire Brigade.

Fire Details

The blaze, which started at 11:08 PM on Friday, 6 December, has engulfed part of the scaffold yard and half of an adjacent single-storey motor repair workshop.

The London Fire Brigade dispatched ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters to the scene after receiving the first of 14 emergency calls. Crews from West Norwood, Brixton, Norbury, Forest Hill, and surrounding stations are working to contain the fire.

Ongoing Response

Firefighters are continuing their efforts to bring the fire under control. The cause of the fire remains unknown, and investigations will commence once the site is deemed safe.

Community Impact

Residents in the area have been advised to stay indoors and keep windows closed due to the smoke. Traffic diversions are in place on Norwood High Street to facilitate emergency operations.
