Man Arrested After Train Smashes into Buffers at London Bridge
A Southern train slammed into the buffers at London Bridge Station on Friday afternoon, sparking a swift police response and an arrest.
Slow-Speed Crash Shakes London Bridge Platform
The incident happened at about 3.45pm on December 13, when a Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) Southern service was pulling into platform 12 at low speed. Despite the crash, there were no reported injuries as passengers quickly exited the train.
Man Held Over Railway Endangerment
British Transport Police (BTP) arrested a man on suspicion of endangerment on the railway. He was later released on bail while inquiries continue.
A GTR spokesperson said: “There were no reports of any injuries, and its passengers left the station. The British Transport Police and Rail Accident Investigation Branch have been advised.”
Swift Service Recovery and Ongoing Probe
- The damaged train was taken back to its depot the same day.
- Platform 12 was fully operational again by the next morning.
- The Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) is now investigating the cause.
