Convicted child killer Urfan Sharif savagely attacked in Belmarsh with tuna tin weapon
Brutal Jailhouse Assault
Urfan Sharif, 43, who was found guilty of murdering his 10-year-old daughter Sara Sharif, was viciously attacked inside HMP Belmarsh on New Year’s Day. Two inmates used a crude weapon fashioned from a tuna tin lid to slash Sharif’s neck and face. The knife-like assault left him needing stitches but his injuries are not life-threatening.
The attack was reportedly planned, with the prisoners targeting Sharif in his cell. He remains in the prison’s healthcare unit, shaken and injured.
“The attack was inevitable given the nature of his crimes. Despite precautions, his notoriety made him a target,” said an insider.
Police Launch Investigation
The Metropolitan Police confirmed they are probing the assault on Sharif. A spokesperson told reporters, “We are investigating an allegation of assault on a 43-year-old prisoner at HMP Belmarsh. The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries.”
The Horrific Case Behind the Violence
Sara Sharif was found battered and abused in their Surrey home in August 2023 with over 100 injuries from years of torture. Sharif, his partner Beinash Batool, and his brother Faisal Malik were convicted after trying to flee to Pakistan, abandoning Sara’s body. The court heard chilling evidence of severe beatings and burns inflicted on the helpless child.
Public Outcry and Prison Safety Concerns
The attack on Sharif has divided opinion. Some see it as justice served, while others warn that all prisoners must be protected regardless of their crimes. Campaigners have urged prisons to improve safety measures for high-profile inmates like Sharif.
Authorities face the tough challenge of managing notorious criminals while preventing violence behind bars. Sara Sharif’s tragic case remains a stark reminder of the worst horrors of domestic abuse and child cruelty – and the urgent need for vigilance to stop future tragedies.
