One Dead, Two Critically Injured in Cirencester Crash

A man in his 60s has died, and two others remain in critical condition following a serious single-vehicle crash in Cirencester.

Emergency Response

The crash occurred at around 10:30 am on Wednesday, February 5, on the A419 Cirencester Road, near Dobbies Garden Centre and the roundabout for Siddington Park.

A silver Volkswagen Polo veered off the carriageway and collided with a tree, prompting a large-scale emergency response.

Two air ambulances from Great Western Air Ambulance and Midlands Air Ambulance were dispatched alongside five ambulances, with critical care medics treating the injured at the scene.

Casualties and Injuries

  • A man in his 60s, from Cheltenham, was a passenger in the vehicle. He suffered significant injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been notified and is being supported by police.
  • A man and woman, both in their 80s, sustained life-threatening injuries and were airlifted to the Major Trauma Centre at Southmead Hospital in Bristol. They remain in critical condition.

Police Investigation and Appeal for Witnesses

Gloucestershire Constabulary launched an investigation into the cause of the crash. Road closures were in place for several hours while forensic teams conducted investigations, but these were lifted last night.

A police spokesperson said:

“Investigating officers would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision and has not already spoken to police or anyone who has dashcam footage they feel may be relevant.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact Gloucestershire Police via their online form, quoting incident 127 of 5 February.
