Several schools across Northfleet and Gravesend were forced into lockdown this morning after receiving an “email making threats,â prompting a large police presence in the area.
Kent Police confirmed they were alerted by Shears Green Infant School in Packham Road just before 8am after staff received a concerning message. Officers attended the scene, liaised with staff, and reassured the community.
Further reports suggest that other primary and secondary schools in the area also received similar emails. Lawn Primary School is understood to have been among those affected, although the school declined to comment when approached.
Police Treating Threat as Non-Credible
A police spokesperson confirmed the emails are being investigated but are currently considered as a non-credible threat.
Shears Green Infant School declined to comment directly but, in a letter shared on social media, headteacher Matt Paterson stated the school had temporarily closed at short notice as a â€precautionary measure due to messages suggesting the safety of pupils and staff could be at risk.
We has reached out to other affected schools and Kent County Council (KCC) for further details.
