Murder Investigation Launched After Woman Stabbed to Death in Bexhill

A murder investigation has been launched after a 58-year-old woman was fatally stabbed at a property in Bayencourt South, Bexhill.

Emergency Response and Arrests

Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after 10pm on Wednesday, February 12. Despite the efforts of paramedics and police officers, the victim tragically died at the scene.

Sussex Police confirmed that the woman’s next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

Following an extensive search of the area, a 39-year-old woman from Bexhill was arrested on suspicion of murder. A 32-year-old man, also from Bexhill, has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. Both suspects remain in police custody.

Police Statement

Detective Chief Inspector Campbell, who is leading the investigation, expressed condolences to the victim’s family and friends:

“Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends following this tragic incident, and the family ask that they are given privacy at this time.”

He added:

“We are in the early stages of a fast-moving investigation, but it is currently believed this matter involved people known to each other.”

“I understand this will be alarming to the community, and there will be an increased police presence in the area for some time.”

Ongoing Investigation

A cordon remains in place at the property, with forensic teams conducting investigations. Officers were seen carrying out door-to-door inquiries throughout the day, speaking with concerned neighbors.

A local resident described the scene as being “locked down”, with several alleyways taped off and heavy police presence.

Sussex Police are urging anyone with information that may assist their investigation to come forward.
