Bexhill Man Jailed for Horror Domestic Abuse and Strangulation
Jimmy Wright’s Violent Reign Ends Behind Bars
Jimmy Wright, 24, formerly of Cantelupe Road, Bexhill, has been locked up for two years after a brutal domestic abuse campaign against his girlfriend. The victim, a woman in her 20s, endured three years of control and violence, including being strangled until she stopped breathing.
Horrific Abuse and Control Uncovered
Wright isolated his victim from friends and family, tightening his grip over her life with relentless coercion. His violent assaults culminated in non-fatal strangulation, a chilling act Judge Mooney called “the most dreadful thing to do.” Despite pleading not guilty in Hastings Magistrates’ Court, he was convicted on all counts, including coercive control and two assaults.
Judge Slams Wright’s Denial and Violence
“I have no idea why you behaved this way. You were violent, bullying, and held her by the throat. She had the courage to report it to the police. You chose to deny everything, forcing the complainant to go to court.” – Judge Mooney
Police Praise Victim’s Bravery, Issue Warning
Detective Constable Rebecca Dixon commended the victim for her courage during the investigation and urged anyone suffering domestic abuse to come forward. “We take all reports seriously and encourage victims to talk to us,” she stated.
