Man Charged After Chatham Hit-And-Run Leaves Victim Seriously Injured
A motorist accused of intentionally hitting a man with his car in Chatham faces multiple charges. He is due in court this week.
Crash on New Road Leaves Driver Injured
The shocking incident happened on Sunday, 16 February 2025. The victim was driving along New Road, Chatham, when his vehicle collided with a Nissan Note. After the collision, the victim got out of his car – but the Nissan allegedly lurched forward, striking him and causing multiple injuries.
The Nissan’s driver then fled the scene, leaving the injured man behind. Emergency services rushed to the scene, and the victim was taken to hospital for treatment.
Suspect Arrested and Charged
Police launched an immediate investigation and arrested a suspect the next day. Jahmel Corbin, 37, of no fixed address, now faces several serious charges including:
- Causing grievous bodily harm with intent
- Causing serious injury by dangerous driving
- Failing to stop after a collision
- Driving without a valid licence
- Driving without insurance
Corbin has been remanded in custody and will appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court today (Tuesday, 18 February).
