Tragic Death Halts Central Line in East London

A person has died after being struck by a London Underground train on the Central line this Wednesday morning (March 29).

Fatal Incident at Newbury Park Station

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene at Newbury Park station in Ilford. The British Transport Police (BTP) confirmed the casualty occurred around 8.30 a.m.

“Officers were dispatched to Newbury Park station at 8:37 a.m. after reports of a casualty on the tracks,” a BTP spokesperson said. “Paramedics attended but sadly, the person was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers are working to identify the individual and notify their family. The incident is not being treated as suspicious. A file will be prepared for the coroner.”

Central Line Disrupted, Now Reopened

Transport for London (TfL) confirmed that services between Leytonstone and Grange Hill via Newbury Park were suspended following the incident. The line has now reopened, easing delays for commuters.

The identity of the deceased has not yet been released as investigations continue.
