Suspect Charged in Connection with Two Robberies in Gillingham

A 18-year-old man has been charged following two reported knife-point robberies in Gillingham, Kent Police confirmed today.

The first incident occurred on Monday, 10 February 2025, when a teenage boy was walking along Brompton Road. He was allegedly approached by a man brandishing a knife, who threatened him before stealing his jacket, AirPods, and some cash.

Less than a week later, on Sunday, 16 February, a second teenager reported a similar encounter on the same road. According to police, the suspect again wielded a knife, this time stealing the victim’s bag.

Swift Police Action

Kent Police launched an investigation into the robberies, quickly identifying a suspect. Officers arrested Cameron Joseph, 18, from Balmoral Road, Gillingham, in Gravesend on Thursday, 20 February.

Joseph has since been charged with two counts of robbery and two counts of possessing a bladed article in a public place.

Court Proceedings Underway

The suspect appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court, where he was remanded in custody. His next hearing is scheduled for Friday, 21 March, at Maidstone Crown Court.

A Kent Police spokesperson praised the efforts of officers, saying, “Thanks to swift investigative work, we were able to arrest the suspect and ensure he faces charges in connection with these troubling incidents.”
