Burglary Bust in Sittingbourne: Man Nabbed After Break-In at Local Business
Rapid Police Response Nets Suspect
Kent Police sprang into action at around 12:30am on Friday, 21 February 2025, after a burglary was reported at a business on High Street, Milton Regis. The culprit smashed a window, stole several items, and fled on foot.
Officers quickly searched the area and detained a man linked to the crime. A missing cash register was recovered during the search.
Meet the Accused: Mark Barton Charged
The suspect, Mark Barton, 43, from Wesleyan Road, Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, was charged the following day with multiple offences:
- Burglary
- Going equipped for burglary
- Criminal damage
- Possession of a bladed article
- Obstructing a police officer
Barton appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Saturday and was remanded in custody. He is set to face charges at Maidstone Crown Court on 21 March.
