Firefighters Tackle Garage Blaze in Tonbridge — No Injuries Reported – UKNIP

Kent Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed that crews responded to a garage fire in Cardinal Close, Tonbridge this afternoon, successfully extinguishing the flames without any reported injuries.

The fire was reported at 4:26 PM on Monday, April 14, prompting the swift dispatch of two fire engines to the scene in the Tonbridge and Malling district.

Firefighting Efforts

Firefighters wore personal protective equipment (PPE) and breathing apparatus as they tackled the blaze. Equipment used included high-pressure hose reel jets and a fog spike to help bring the fire under control.

Crews managed to fully extinguish the fire by 5:15 PM, containing it before it could spread to surrounding properties.

Cause Believed to Be Accidental

Initial investigations suggest that the fire was accidentally caused by faulty electrical wiring within the garage. The structure sustained damage, but thanks to the quick response, a wider incident was avoided.

A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said:
“Our crews responded promptly and worked efficiently to bring the fire under control. Thankfully, there were no injuries reported.”

Public Safety Reminder

The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of regularly checking electrical systems, particularly in garages, sheds, and outbuildings, which can be vulnerable to overlooked faults.

Residents are encouraged to contact Kent Fire and Rescue Service for advice on electrical safety and fire prevention measures.
