Garage Blaze in Tonbridge Tamed by Firefighters

Kent Fire and Rescue Service raced to a garage fire in Cardinal Close, Tonbridge, this Monday afternoon. Two fire engines arrived fast after the alarm sounded at 4:26 PM in the Tonbridge and Malling district. Thankfully, no one was harmed.

Swift and Skilled Firefighting

Fire crews donned full PPE and breathing apparatus before attacking the flames. They used high-pressure hose reels and a fog spike to douse the fire efficiently. By 5:15 PM, the blaze was fully under control, preventing any spread to nearby homes.

Faulty Wiring Blamed for the Fire

Investigators believe the fire started accidentally due to faulty electrical wiring inside the garage. While the building suffered damage, quick action ensured the blaze didn’t become a larger disaster.

A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Our crews responded promptly and worked efficiently to bring the fire under control. Thankfully, there were no injuries reported.”

Safety Warning for Homeowners

This incident is a stark reminder to regularly check electrical systems, especially in garages, sheds, and outbuildings. These areas are often overlooked but can pose serious fire risks.

Residents are urged to seek advice from Kent Fire and Rescue Service on electrical safety and fire prevention tips.
