Man Busted After High-Speed Chase in Cloned Stolen Car

A daring police chase in Erdington ended with a man in handcuffs after he was caught driving a cloned vehicle stolen during a burglary.

Stinger Tire Trap Brings Chase to a Halt

West Midlands Police’s Road Crime Team spotted the car and quickly deployed a stinger device to puncture its tyres and bring it to a stop. The driver leapt out and tried to run, but officers were on him instantly.

During the arrest, cops recovered a knife from the suspect.

Charged with Burglary, Theft, and Weapon Possession

The man now faces multiple charges linked to the burglary, the stolen cloned vehicle, and carrying a weapon.

“Officers saw this cloned car in Erdington after it had been stolen in a burglary. It was pre-emptively stung and then pursued before the driver decamped. He was quickly arrested where we also found his knife, and he’s now been charged with multiple burglaries and offences,” said the Road Crime Team.

Crackdown on Crime and Cloned Cars

Cloned vehicles, which use fake or stolen plates to avoid police, often play a key role in further crimes. This arrest is part of West Midlands Police’s ongoing efforts to clamp down hard on vehicle crime and organised thieves across Birmingham and the surrounding areas.

Police Urge Public to Stay Vigilant

Officers have pledged to keep communities safe through targeted patrols and intelligence-led operations. The public is encouraged to report suspicious activity or vehicles via 101 or the Live Chat feature on the West Midlands Police website.

The suspect remains in custody and is set to appear in court soon.
