Two Treated After Car Crashes into Fire Engine on Ashford Road, Bearsted

Two people were treated following a crash this morning involving a car and a Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) fire engine on Ashford Road (A20) near Link Hill in Bearsted, close to Maidstone.

The incident occurred at approximately 10.30am, prompting a swift response from emergency services. The fire engine, which was not believed to be responding to an emergency at the time, sustained damage to its front after being struck by a car.

Paramedics attended the scene and treated two individuals for injuries, which are not thought to be life-threatening. It is currently unclear whether those treated were firefighters or occupants of the car.

Traffic along the busy A20 was heavily affected as the scene was cleared, with temporary delays and congestion in both directions. Motorists were advised to seek alternative routes while recovery and assessment work was carried out.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is underway.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service has yet to issue a formal statement regarding the condition of the fire crew involved.

Witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage of the incident are urged to contact Kent Police on 101, quoting the incident location and time.
