National Highways has announced that the Operation Brock contraflow system will be removed overnight tonight, prompting a full closure of parts of the M20 between Maidstone and Ashford.
The removal will begin at 8pm on Tuesday, 22 April, with the motorway set to fully reopen by 6am on Wednesday, 23 April. The overnight works are planned to minimise disruption for road users during peak travel times.
Closure Details:
- London-bound carriageway will be closed from junction 9 (Ashford) to junction 8 (Maidstone)
- Coastbound carriageway will be closed from junction 7 (Maidstone) to junction 9 (Ashford)
Fully signed diversion routes will be in place, and drivers are urged to follow these signs rather than relying on SatNav directions, which may not reflect temporary changes.
Operation Brock is the traffic management system designed to keep the M20 open during cross-Channel disruption. Its removal marks a return to normal traffic flow on the key route linking London to the Port of Dover and Eurotunnel terminal.
National Highways said it will issue an update if any changes to the planned schedule occur.
