This weekend marks a major sporting milestone as the 45th London Marathon hits the streets of the capital. Thousands of runners will take on the iconic 26.2-mile challenge, cheered on by massive crowds lining the streets. But for those unable to attend in person, there are still plenty of ways to join in and show support — all from the comfort of home.
How to Watch the London Marathon
The BBC will be broadcasting live coverage of the London Marathon on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, allowing viewers to follow all the action from start to finish. Coverage begins at 10am on Sunday, 27 April, and runs through until 2pm.
The BBC’s special coverage will be hosted by Gabby Logan, alongside a team of expert commentators including Andrew Cotter, Steve Cram, Paula Radcliffe, and Tanni Grey-Thompson. Reporters Abby Cook, JJ Chalmers, Jeanette Kwakye, and Sarah Mulkerrins will also provide updates from across the course.
The broadcast will focus on both the men’s and women’s elite races, last year dominated by Kenyan runners Alexander Mutiso and Peres Jepchirchir, while the wheelchair divisions saw victories for Swiss athletes Marcel Hug and Catherine Debrunner.
How to Track a Runner with the London Marathon App
Supporters can also track their friends, family, or favourite celebrities by using the official London Marathon Tracker app, available for both iPhone and Android devices.
After downloading the app, users can head to the ‘Tracking’ section and search by runner’s name or bib number. The app provides real-time updates on the runner’s location along the route and offers detailed results, leaderboards, and expert advice.
Important: If you still have the 2024 London Marathon app installed, you must delete it and download the new 2025 version to access updated features.
You can download the latest app directly from the London Marathon website.
