Morrisons Recalls Sausages Over Fears of Blue Plastic Contamination

Morrisons has issued an urgent product recall for one of its premium sausage lines amid concerns that it may contain small pieces of blue plastic.

The recall affects Morrisons The Best 6 Thick Cumberland Sausages (400g pack size) with a use-by date of 1 May 2025. Customers are being warned not to eat the affected product as it could pose a safety risk.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has confirmed that the product may be unsafe to consume due to possible plastic contamination.

Shoppers who have purchased the sausages are urged to return them to their nearest Morrisons store — including those in Newport and Lake — where they will be entitled to a full refund. A receipt is not required for returns.

Point-of-sale notices are being displayed in all stores that stocked the product, providing customers with details of the recall and advice on what steps to take.

A spokesperson for Morrisons said no other products are affected by the issue.

For further information, customers are encouraged to visit the Morrisons website or speak to staff in-store.
