Police Swarm Blackheath Easter Funfair

Police rushed to Blackheath Common on Prince Charles Road just before 4pm on Tuesday, April 8, after reports of a large group of youths causing mayhem.

By the time officers arrived, most troublemakers had fled. But several suspects were caught, including a 13-year-old boy found with a kitchen knife. He faces charges and is due in Bromley Magistrates’ Court later this week.

Funfair Shut Down, Then Reopens with Tough New Security

The chaos forced the funfair to shut its doors for the day, disappointing families who had come out for Easter fun.

Capital Funfairs, the event organisers, acted fast. The attraction reopened the following day with fresh safety measures in place:

  • Knife detection wands at entrances
  • Boosted CCTV surveillance
  • Strict new rule: children under 14 must be with an adult

“We are a family funfair, for families, run by families. To support a family-friendly environment, children under 14 won’t be allowed in without an adult. ID checks may be required,” said organisers.

Community Outraged, Calls for Action on Youth Knife Crime
