Emergency crews are currently responding to a developing fire incident at Erith Pier late this evening.
The fire was first reported shortly before 5pm on Friday, 9 May 2025, with eyewitnesses describing smoke and emergency vehicle activity in the area. The London Fire Brigade and London Ambulance Service have been contacted for further details as fire crews work to contain the situation.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown, and it’s not yet clear if there are any injuries.
The pier, a well-known local landmark on the River Thames in Erith, is popular for walkers and anglers, raising concerns over whether any members of the public were present at the time of the fire.
