Motorists in Essex are facing significant delays this morning after a medical emergency forced the closure of the A12 southbound between Junction 12 (Brentwood) and Junction 11 (M25 interchange).
Essex Police are currently on the scene, with National Highways confirming the full closure and urging drivers to plan alternative routes.
“The A12 southbound between J12 and J11 is fully shut while emergency services attend the scene,” a spokesperson said.
Diversion Route Issued
Drivers heading towards the M25 are advised to follow the official diversion route:

Take the first exit at the roundabout onto the A1023 toward Brentwood

Continue for approximately 4 miles through Brentwood

At the M25 J28 roundabout, take the second exit to rejoin the A12 southbound
