Fire at Keir Starmer’s North London Home Sparks Counter-Terror Probe
Counter-terror police have launched a major investigation after a fire broke out at a property owned by Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer in North West London. Emergency services rushed to the £2 million townhouse at 1.11am on Monday (12 May) following reports of a blaze.
The fire damaged the entrance and is being treated as suspicious. Scotland Yard’s SO15 Counter Terrorism Command suspects it was started deliberately.
Loud Bang and Forensics on the Hunt
Neighbours on the usually quiet street were woken by a loud bang. One described the fire as “scary.”
The entire street was cordoned off as forensic officers in blue and white overalls scoured the scene throughout the day for clues.
A Met Police spokesperson said: “The fire is being investigated and cordons remain in place while enquiries continue. Anyone with information is urged to contact police on 101 quoting CAD 441/12 May.”
Fire Quickly Controlled, No Injuries
The London Fire Brigade confirmed two engines from Kentish Town Fire Station had the fire under control by 1.33am.
The Met added: “Damage was caused to the property’s entrance, but nobody was hurt.”
A spokesperson for Sir Keir Starmer said: “The Prime Minister thanks the emergency services for their work. The matter is subject to a live investigation and we will not comment further at this time.”
Possible Linked Car Fire Raises Eyebrows
Neighbours claim a car fire occurred opposite the home just last Wednesday. It remains unclear if the two incidents are connected.
Property and Political Background
Sir Keir owns the North London property but has rented it out since becoming Prime Minister, while living at 10 Downing Street with his family. The couple were famously spotted outside the house applauding NHS workers during lockdown.
The blaze comes hours before Sir Keir unveiled Labour’s immigration overhaul, featuring tougher citizenship rules, stricter visa thresholds, and a pledge to reduce net migration by 100,000 a year.
Migration Battle Heats Up
From Downing Street, Sir Keir warned that without changes, the UK risks becoming an “island of strangers.” He slammed the Conservatives for failing to control migration as he launched Labour’s flagship Immigration White Paper.
But critics, including Reform UK, claim Labour’s plans lack a clear migration cap. Party leader Richard Tice slammed it, saying:
“There’s no target, no number that can be measured against.”
