Crawley Man Charged with Multiple Shoplifting Offences from Co-Op in Maidenbower

A 32-year-old man has been charged in connection with a series of thefts from the Co-Op store in Maidenbower, Crawley.

Simon Rogers-Davis, of Lucas Close, Maidenbower, faces seven counts of shoplifting and is due to appear before Crawley Magistrates’ Court on 18 July 2025.

He has been released on bail under strict conditions that prohibit him from entering the Co-Op store without supervision.

Joint Police and Retail Response

The charges follow a coordinated investigation involving the Crawley Neighbourhood Policing Team, divisional response officers, and the Sussex Police Business Crime Team, in partnership with Co-Op store management.

A Sussex Police spokesperson said:

“We are committed to working with local businesses to tackle shoplifting and ensure that persistent offenders are held accountable. Theft has a serious impact on both staff and the wider community.”

The case highlights ongoing efforts by Sussex Police to crack down on retail crime, particularly repeat shoplifting that affects local stores and disrupts day-to-day trade.
