Lewisham House Fire: Neighbours’ Heartbreaking Cry to Save Trapped Child
Neighbours were left horrified as flames tore through a block of maisonettes on Lewisham Road. Amid the chaos, a scream pierced the night: “My boy, my boy, please help my boy.” The desperate plea came as the fire engulfed their home, trapping a child inside.
Massive Fire Response to Lewisham Blaze
It took a huge effort to tackle the blaze. Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters rushed to the scene.
“Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters tackled a fire at a block of maisonettes on Lewisham Road, Lewisham,” a fire brigade spokesperson said.
The fire destroyed a maisonette spanning the ground and first floors. Nearby flats on the second and third floors also suffered damage, alongside the building’s external façade.
Casualties and Rescue Efforts
Thankfully, no fatalities have been reported so far. One woman received treatment from the London Ambulance Service at the scene. Three others evacuated before firefighters arrived.
The Brigade’s Drone Team provided critical aerial views to help control the fire. Crews were dispatched from Greenwich, Lewisham, Lee Green, and other nearby stations.
Fire Under Control, Investigation Underway
Control officers took the first emergency call at 11:55pm. Firefighters managed to bring the fire under control by 2:02am.
“The cause of the fire is under investigation,” confirmed the fire brigade.
Neighbours remain shaken by the tragedy and the desperate attempts to save the trapped child amid the devastating Lewisham house fire.
