Five Men Jailed for Murder of Greek Tourist in New Cross Robbery Plot
Brutal Stabbing After London Night Out
Five men have been found guilty of murdering 27-year-old Antonis Antoniadis, a Greek tourist who was brutally stabbed in New Cross during a planned robbery. Antonis was followed across London after a night out before being fatally attacked.
London Hunt Caught on CCTV
Metropolitan Police pieced together hundreds of hours of CCTV footage tracing the killers’ movements. The premeditated pursuit started outside a nightclub near Oxford Circus and ended eight miles away in New Cross. Antonis had been enjoying a night out with friends in central London on 6 July 2024.
Fatal Stab Wounds and Weapons Cache Found
Antonis was stabbed in the thigh, severing his femoral artery. Despite initial survival, he tragically died from his injuries. A weapons stash was recovered from the gang, including:
- Two swords
- Nine assorted knives and lock-blades
Guilty Verdict After Eight-Week Trial
The five men were convicted of murder and conspiracy to commit robbery following an eight-week trial. The meticulous police work tracked their movements before, during, and after the crime. Shian Johnson, 26, from Argyle, was among those sentenced.
“Despite all efforts, Antonis never made it home to give evidence, and all witnesses who came forward played a crucial role,” a police spokesperson said.
