The pilot — who has not been named — is said to have stripped off and roamed the Melia Dunas Beach Resort and Spa in the early hours of 5 August following a marathon drinking session at the bar.
According to The Sun he boozy captain reeked of alcohol as he wandered into the reception area completely nude, before heading into the gym and spa in full view of shocked onlookers.
One insider told the paper:
“The pilot didn’t have a stitch on and stank of booze. Anyone who saw him cavorting around like that wouldn’t fancy him flying them home.”
Grounded Before Flight Home
The 17-year EasyJet veteran had flown into the West African holiday hotspot on 4 August and was due to helm the flight back to London Gatwick two days later. But after complaints were made to the airline, bosses swiftly pulled him from duty and called in a replacement captain.
An EasyJet spokesperson said
“As soon as we were made aware, the pilot was immediately stood down from duty, in line with our procedures, pending an investigation. The safety of our passengers and crew is EasyJet’s highest priority.”
The investigation continues.
