A teenager is in a life-threatening condition following a stabbing that left three people injured on Old Kent Road late on Wednesday night.

Emergency services were called at 10.47pm on 27 August. The London Ambulance Service treated three victims before taking them to hospital.

Victims

  • A 17-year-old boy remains in hospital in a life-threatening condition, the Metropolitan Police confirmed on Friday.
  • A second 17-year-old boy suffered less serious injuries and has since been discharged.
  • The condition of a third victim has not been verified.

Arrest and Enquiries

Officers arrested a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of attempted murder after a short pursuit. He has since been released on bail as enquiries continue.

The A2 Old Kent Road, which was sealed off overnight for forensic investigation, has since reopened to traffic.

Police Statement

A Met Police spokesperson said:

“Police were called at 22.47hrs on Wednesday, 27 August to reports of a stabbing on Old Kent Road. Two boys, both aged 17, were found at the scene with stab wounds. One remains in hospital in a life-threatening condition.

The second was taken to hospital where his injuries were deemed not life-changing or threatening. He has since been discharged.

Following a short pursuit a 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He has been released on bail while enquiries continue.

We understand the concern this incident will cause within the local community. Residents can expect to see an increased police presence in the area over the coming days.”
