Six life sentences for the chilling ‘meticulously planned’ murder of Fulham man Janayo Lucima
Six men, including a 17-year-old boy, have been jailed for life over the brutal killing of 21-year-old Janayo Lucima in Fulham. The victim was shot dead at his own doorstep on April 1, 2024, in what the Old Bailey described as a “planned and organised execution” linked to a drugs dispute.
Life Behind Bars
On September 5, the court handed down heavy life sentences for those found guilty of this cold-blooded murder:
- Khuder Al Kurdi, 23, Fulham Palace Road – life with a minimum of 33 years
- Muktar Said, 24, West Kensington – life with a minimum of 29 years
- Mohammed Mansaray, 18, Dollis Hill – life with a minimum of 27 years
- Unnamed 17-year-old boy from SW6 (extradited from Spain) – life with a minimum of 22 years
- Issa Siteri, 19, Chelsea – life with a minimum of 28 years
- Yusuf Muhudin Abdi, 19, Westbourne Green – life with a minimum of 28 years and six months
A retrial is scheduled for 2026 after the jury failed to reach verdicts on two other suspects, including a teenage boy.
Cold Execution Caught on CCTV
CCTV footage revealed how the gang prepared to kill. Gunman Mansaray brandished a weapon while waiting for Al Kurdi to confirm Janayo’s location. Al Kurdi then tricked Janayo into opening his door under the pretext of a drug deal. As Janayo stepped outside, Mansaray fired a fatal shot. The gang fled, discarding knives linked to them by forensic evidence. Some tried to flee the country but were swiftly caught by Met Police.
Family’s Heartbreaking Tribute
Janayo’s mother, Winifred Ayo, gave a moving victim impact statement at court:
“I miss my son and think about him all the time. I miss his hugs, his laughs, his perfect smile. Janayo was full of dreams, but he was heartlessly taken from us by a group of self-centred young men steeped in violence. The pain and void they created will never heal. No sentence will bring Janayo back.”
Police Praise Meticulous Investigation
Detective Chief Inspector Brian Howie from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command said:
“This was not a random killing. The defendants planned their actions meticulously with murderous intent, armed with a handgun and knives. They gave Janayo no chance to defend himself, ruthlessly executing him as he stepped out his front door. Our thoughts remain with Janayo’s family, who have shown immense dignity during this ordeal.”
