Abuser Dad of Brave Baby Tony Set for Jail Release This Week

Parole to Begin Amid Security Clampdown

The cruel dad of Tony Hudgell, the infant who lost both legs after brutal abuse, is due to walk free this week. Anthony Smith, 54, got a 10-year sentence back in 2018 but will be released on parole from June 19. He must wear a GPS monitor and stick to an approved address.

This shocking release comes just two months after Tony’s birth mum, Jody Simpson, 34, also got out. Both were convicted of causing or allowing the horrific injuries and failing to get medical help for baby Tony.

Tony’s Triumph Against All Odds

When Tony was just 41 days old, he suffered unimaginable abuse. Today, he’s the youngest ever to receive the British Empire Medal for smashing fundraising targets. His story of resilience has inspired the nation.

Adoptive Mum Sounds Alarm

Tony’s adoptive mum, Paula Hudgell, 57, slammed the parole decision. “There’s been no sign Smith feels sorry or understands how he ruined Tony’s life,” she said. “Tony will carry these injuries for life because of Smith and Simpson. Smith is a danger to children.”

“If he doesn’t breach his conditions soon, he’ll be free to do whatever he wants. It’s so unfair that Tony lives with limits, yet the man who caused them walks free. The system’s broken – we need tougher laws to stop child abusers like this.”
