Replica Guns Stolen in Ventnor Shop Break-In
Police hunt for two men after burglars smash shop window and swipe three replica guns in Ventnor.
Early Morning Break-In at Sorties Shop
At around 1am on Wednesday, December 21, the front window of Sorties in Pier Street was smashed. Thieves made off with three replica guns from a display stand.
Suspects Spotted Wearing Hoodies
- One man spotted wearing a blue hoodie and dark trousers
- The other seen in a grey hoodie and light trousers
A 23-year-old man has been arrested but later bailed until March 20, 2017, as police continue their investigation.
Stolen Replica Guns Details
- 1869 Colt Peacemaker (nickel finish) – Non-firing but has a working mechanism, valued at £84.99
- 1862 Remington Navy Pistol – Non-firing replica with authentic firing mechanism, worth £54.99
- 1869 Colt Peacemaker (black finish) – Non-firing with working mechanism, priced at £72.99
These replicas fire a single round producing a loud bang and smoke, but no bullets come from the barrels.
Police Appeal for Information
“This is a rare occurrence and it would appear this shop has been targeted for the items on show in the window. We want to hear from anyone offered these guns for sale or who has info about the burglary.”
