Invesigation launched after fire rips through glass manufacturing warehouse

Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters were called to a fire at a glass manufacturing warehouse on an industrial estate in Lanrick Road, Canning Town this afternoon. Thursday, August 23rd Half of a glass hardening plant unit on the ground floor of the building was damaged by the fire and part of a mezzanine floor and the roof was also damaged. There were no reports of any injuries. The Fre Brigade’s 999 Control Officers took 11 calls to the fire. The service was called at 12.30pm and the fire was under control at 1.52pm. Fire crews from Plaistow, Millwall, Shadwell, East Greenwich, Stratford and surrounding fire stations attended the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
