Murder probe launched after builder found dead on Camden roof
Police have opened a murder investigation after a man was discovered dead on the roof of a business premises in Camden’s Hatton Garden.
Fatal discovery on Hatton Garden roof
Officers and paramedics were called to the scene at 14:41 on Tuesday, 17 April, following reports of a man injured on the roof of a commercial building. The victim, a 47-year-old builder working on site, was pronounced dead just over twenty minutes later at 15:07.
While initial reports suggested a fall, detectives now believe the victim was seriously assaulted. The Met’s Homicide and Major Crime Command, led by DCI Luke Marks, is spearheading the investigation.
Arrest made, hunt for suspect underway
A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder at a south London police station on Thursday, 19 April. However, officers remain on the lookout for another suspect who fled the scene.
DCI Luke Marks said: “At this early stage in the inquiry, it is believed that the victim was viciously attacked by an unknown suspect, inflicting injuries that have resulted in his death. We have made one arrest but our investigation continues apace.”

The second suspect, described as a white male in his mid-20s, was seen fleeing from Hatton Garden towards Chancery Lane, boarding a Central Line train at around 14:15.
He was wearing a navy blue fleece jacket, blue jeans, and brown workmen’s boots. Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed a man acting suspiciously in the area around that time to contact them immediately.
