G4S Driver Jailed for Stealing £1 Million from Cash Van
A G4S driver has been slammed with a jail sentence after robbing £1 million from the cash-in-transit van he was tasked with driving. Joel March, 36, of Rectory Grove, SW4, was handed four years and four months behind bars at Inner London Crown Court on Friday, 26 July.
Cash Heist Caught on the Spot
March pleaded guilty to theft and concealing criminal property back in April at Camberwell Magistrates’ Court. Police were alerted at around 7pm on Tuesday, 23 April, after reports the cash-in-transit vehicle was robbed while parked in Clapham – with no signs of forced entry.
Met’s Flying Squad Cracks the Case
The Met’s elite Flying Squad swung into action, arresting March at a flat in Keats SE5 the next day around 3pm. Inside his room, officers found £28,600 – but the hunt for the rest of the stolen loot continues.
“March abused his position of trust through greed,” said DI Jason Barber, who is leading the investigation. “His sentence today does not end our investigation. My officers continue to work hard to locate the stolen cash and repay every penny back to G4S. March will not benefit from this offence.”
Police Appeal: Speak Up or Risk Prosecution
DI Barber made a strong call to anyone with information on the missing cash to come forward. “I want to be absolutely clear that anyone who benefits from the stolen cash will be fully investigated and may face prosecution,” he warned.
