Forty firefighters have been sent to tackle a building ablaze in Swanscombe

Eight fire appliances from Kent Fire and Rescue Service are currently at the scene of a large fire in an industrial building on Manor Way, Swanscombe. The blaze broke out at around 6.30am on Saturday morning. Large black clouds of smoke can be seen from the incident. Fire bosses have issued a safety warning ton residents: Due to large amounts of smoke in the area, local residents are asked to close windows and doors. In addition, there have been reports that the smoke may cause disruption on the nearby rail service and local roads, please allow extra time if travelling in these areas. More to follow
