Fire Crews Race to Tackle Blaze on M25 Following Early Morning Crash Near Godstone
Three fire crews from Surrey Fire and Rescue Service rushed to a blazing vehicle on the M25 between junctions 7 and 6 on Friday morning. The drama unfolded shortly after 4.30am when a two-car collision sparked a major incident.
Multi-Agency Response to M25 Collision
Surrey Police confirmed the crash involved two vehicles and forced the closure of a busy three-lane stretch of motorway near marker post P43/0. Firefighters were quickly mobilised after smoke billowed from one of the cars.
Alongside fire crews, officers from Surrey Roads Policing and paramedics from SEC Ambulance Service attended the scene. Thankfully, no one was trapped in the vehicles.
Traffic Chaos and Road Closures
Highways England shut the affected carriageway to secure a safe working area for emergency responders. Although the area was fully closed initially, lanes have since reopened. However, traffic is still straining to get through with queues forming in lane four as drivers rubberneck.
A Highways England spokesman said they aim to clear lane closures before the morning rush hour kicks off.
