Man Arrested After Stolen Car Crash in Bromley Reveals Two Sawn-Off Shotguns
A man is in custody after a stolen vehicle he was riding in crashed in Bromley, found loaded with deadly weapons inside.
Stolen Car Runs Red Light, Causes Crash
At around 4.30pm on Thursday, July 23, Met officers spotted a car run a red light at Bromley Road and Bellingham Road. The vehicle smashed into a cyclist and another car before mounting the pavement.
Several suspects jumped out and fled on foot. One was tackled and detained by a member of the public and arrested by police. The others remain on the run, with police actively hunting for them.
Two Sawn-Off Shotguns Found Inside Stolen Car
An off-duty Met officer noticed the chaos and spotted the firearms inside the car. He stood guard until backup arrived. A search of the stolen vehicle uncovered two sawn-off shotguns and loose cartridges.
The injured cyclist was rushed to a south London hospital. Thankfully, their injuries are serious but not life-threatening.
Police Crack Down on Dangerous Criminals
The 22-year-old arrested now faces firearms, weapons, and road traffic offences.
Detective Superintendent Nick Blackburn said: “This reckless crew left a trail of destruction and seriously injured a cyclist. We won’t stop until all suspects are found and brought to justice.”
