Four Boys Fall Ill After Eating Suspicious Sweets in Epsom

One 12-year-old boy was discharged late on Saturday, 1st May. The other three, who suffered vomiting and other symptoms, remain in hospital but are expected to be released today after overnight observation.

Police Hunt Source of Mysterious Sweets

Officers continue probing where the boys got the sweets. They plan to speak with the children and their families to gather more information.

“These children were incredibly lucky not to be more seriously affected by whatever it was that they ate,” said Detective Sergeant Lisa Betchley. “Thanks go to two medical students nearby who helped quickly, as well as the South East Coast Ambulance Service and hospital staff for their swift response and treatment.”

Detectives urge anyone with information about the sweets to come forward. They warn parents to be cautious about storing such products away from young children who don’t know what’s inside.

Community Reassurance and Appeal for Information

Officers will be visiting the Epsom area where the boys were found to offer reassurance. Locals with concerns are encouraged to speak with a police officer or PCSO.
