Havant Man Sexually Assaults Teen at House Party

A 42-year-old electrician from Havant, Daniel Martin Cake, has admitted sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl after a house party.

Victim Wakes Up to Horror

The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was asleep in a bedroom next to her boyfriend when Cake, intoxicated and high, entered and assaulted her. Terrified, she kicked him off the bed, waking her boyfriend.

The commotion alerted others, leading to Cake being punched and thrown out of the property.

Behind Bars? Not Quite

Police arrested Cake, who claimed he had no memory of the attack after drinking a dozen beers, smoking cannabis, and possibly taking cocaine.

At Portsmouth Crown Court, the victim described feeling “anxious, paranoid and dirty” and had to undergo a police medical examination.

Defence lawyer Jason Halsey called the incident “shocking, humiliating and embarrassing,” stressing Cake’s previously clean record and “good character.”

Shock Sentence Stuns Victim’s Family

Judge Timothy Mousley QC labelled the assault “appalling and shocking” but suspended Cake’s 16-month jail sentence for two years, citing a “realistic prospect of rehabilitation.”

  • Cake must complete 35 days of rehabilitation
  • Received a 10-year restraining order and Sexual Harm Prevention Order
  • Must sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for 10 years

After the hearing, the victim’s mother blasted Cake and his supporters, saying: “My beautiful daughter innocently asleep in bed and he still walks our streets… This has truly broken my heart. Mr Dan Cake, shame on you, and shame on your family and girlfriend who sat in that courtroom to support you.”
