Man Punched to Ground After Pram Accident in West Norwood
Detectives have released a photo of a man wanted over a brutal assault in West Norwood. The shocking attack happened just before 12:55pm on 26 November 2021 on Chapel Road, SE27.
Pram Incident Sparks Furious Attack
The victim, a man in his 40s, was pushing his niece in a pram when it accidentally rolled over an unknown man’s foot. Instead of apologising, the stranger flew into a rage. He punched the man so hard in the face that it broke his eye socket.
Officers arriving on the scene found the victim’s eye bleeding heavily. He was rushed to a north London hospital. The injuries were so severe he underwent three separate surgeries.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
Detective Constable Szilvi Jokai of Central South CID said: “There is absolutely no justifiable reason to attack someone so furiously that they require repeat surgery. But to brutally beat someone in front of a child, for what was an accident, is inexcusable.”
“The attack was extremely distressing for the victim and we are determined to bring the person responsible to justice. We will not tolerate violence in any form.”
The suspect is described as a slim, black man in his 30s, around 5ft 9in tall.
