Officers were called at around 1.50am on Saturday 19 March to a report of a collision involving a motorbike and a wall on Chapel Street – outside Monty’s pub. The rider of the motorbike – a 19-year-old man – died at the scene despite the best efforts of emergency services. No arrests have been made and initial enquiries suggest no other vehicles were involved. However, investigators are keen for any witnesses or anyone who may have recorded dashcam footage in the area in the early hours of today to contact them with any information they may have. Information should be passed to the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 0161 856 4741 quoting incident 257 of 19/03/2022. Details can also be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
