Masked Muggings in Kent: Two Phone Thefts Link Up
Detectives are hunting a balaclava-clad thief after two phone robberies hit Great Chart and Singleton on the evening of Thursday, 5 May 2022. Both attacks happened between 7pm and 7.30pm and are now being treated as connected crimes.
Young Man and Jogger Targeted in Bizarre Armed Robberies
First, a man in his 20s was walking near the playing fields on Chart Road, Great Chart, when a suspect demanded his phone. The victim refused and the crook fled empty-handed.
Minutes later, two women jogging along Tithe Barn Lane, Singleton, faced a more chilling encounter. One woman was approached by the same suspect, who threatened to hurt her if she didn’t hand over her phone. She complied, and the thief escaped towards the underpass leading to Singleton Road.
Suspect Description and Weapon
- Slim white male, aged 17-22
- Approximately 5’9” tall
- Wearing black tracksuit with red stripes
- Black balaclava covering his face
- Carrying a weapon resembling a barbeque fork
