Drama on the Solent: Lifeboat Rescues Stranded Fishing Boat
Lifeboat Racing to Rescue
At 3:30pm today, the volunteer lifeboat was launched after Solent Coastguard got an urgent call. A fishing boat with five people on board had broken down amid choppy conditions.
Timely Arrival Despite Rough Seas
Despite battling an Easterly swell, the lifeboat crew reached the stranded vessel within 15 minutes, arriving at 3:45pm.
Towing to Safety
With the tide ebbing and not enough water to reach Bembridge Harbour safely, the crew decided to tow the fishing boat instead. They brought it to a mooring spot off the Offshore Boathouse.
All Crew and Anglers Safe
Once secured, the five anglers and crew were safely transferred to the Alfred Albert Williams lifeboat. The entire operation was successfully wrapped up by 5:39pm, with everyone safe and sound.
