Blaze Breaks Out at Sydenham Carpentry Workshop

Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters rushed to tackle a fierce fire at industrial units on Bell Green Lane, Sydenham.

Dangerous Gas Cylinders Cool Off

The flames severely damaged a mid-terraced carpentry workshop. Fire crews safely cooled and removed seven gas and adhesive cylinders – a crucial move, as some can explode if heated. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

Quick Response from Multiple Fire Stations

The Fire Brigade was alerted at 11.35 p.m. and had the blaze fully contained by 1.15 a.m. Firefighters from Forest Hill, Beckenham, Lewisham, Bromley, and West Norwood joined the operation.

Cause Likely an Accidental Ventilation Fault

Investigators believe the fire started accidentally, possibly linked to the building’s ventilation system.
