US Woman Faces Court Over Teen’s Fatal Crash
A US citizen accused of causing the death of 19-year-old Harry Dunn in a reckless driving crash will finally face a British court. The tragic accident happened near RAF Croughton, Northamptonshire, back in August 2019.
Diplomatic Immunity Sparks Furious Row
Anne Sacoolas, the American linked to the crash, left the UK after claiming diplomatic immunity. The US government stood by her, triggering a major diplomatic spat. Despite this, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) charged her in December 2019.
Case Set for Westminster Magistrates’ Court
Thursday marks the first time the case will be heard in a UK court at Westminster Magistrates’ Court. It’s still unclear if Sacoolas will appear in person. The CPS had originally planned a hearing earlier this year but postponed it to allow “ongoing discussions” between governments.
Victim’s Family Holds Back Comments
“We will not comment until the criminal proceedings are complete,” said the Dunn family, keeping their cards close to their chest as the legal battle unfolds.
