Police Crash Kills Pedestrian in SW9
Tragic Collision on Stockwell Road
Just before midnight on Wednesday 9 June 2021, two police cars rushing to an emergency call collided on Stockwell Road, SW9. In a horrifying twist, one of the vehicles struck a 25-year-old woman, Shante Daniel-Folkes, from SE27. Despite frantic efforts from officers and paramedics, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigation Leads to Charges
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) launched a full investigation, backed by the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS), to uncover how the crash happened. The case was swiftly passed to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for further action.
Two Police Officers Facing Court
- PC Nadeem Patel is charged with causing death by dangerous driving under Section 1 of the Road Traffic Act.
- PC Gary Thomson faces charges of dangerous driving under Section 2 of the same act.
Both officers are attached to the Central South Command Unit. They have been ordered to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 17 October. Currently, both remain on restricted duties while the case proceeds.
