Chaos at Hyde Park: Slingshot Ride Snaps Mid-Launch and Smashes Into Support Beam
Terrifying Failure on Winter Wonderland Slingshot
Pure panic erupted last night at Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland when a slingshot ride snapped its cord mid-launch. The spherical seating pod, with two riders strapped inside, suddenly veered off course and crashed sideways into a metal support beam.
The ride’s electrical mechanism fired the pod into the air, but instead of shooting straight up, it jolted sharply to the left. The right-side slingshot cord failed, causing the pod to slam hard into the ride’s frame, hanging precariously side-on with the terrified passengers trapped inside.
Onlookers Gasp as Crash Unfolds
Spectators watched in shock and horror as the pod collided with the ride’s structure. Some gasped aloud witnessing the crash unfold in real time. The video footage shows the ride launching, slipping, then striking the metal support while the ropes visibly snapped.
Emergency Response and Aftermath
Winter Wonderland staff swiftly blocked access to the ride and safely rescued the two passengers trapped inside. Although London Fire Brigade line rescue crews were called out, they did not need to intervene further.
It remains unclear whether the riders suffered any injuries. Winter Wonderland organisers have yet to comment on the incident.
