A man has died following a dramatic police incident on Borland Avenue, Carlisle.

Knife-Wielding Man Threatened Locals

Police were called at 3.37pm today after reports of a man threatening people at a residential address. Armed officers raced to the scene and found the suspect in possession of a knife.

Police Fire Weapon, Man Pronounced Dead at Scene

Shortly after arriving, officers discharged a police firearm. The man, believed to be in his 40s, sustained gunshot injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

No Other Injuries, Area Cordoned Off
